ABOUT
Boom Inspection & Repair, Inc. (BIR) was founded in 2002 in response to the need for quality, affordable inspections and repair work in the concrete placing industry. In 2003, BIR expanded its services to include crane inspections and repairs; however, concrete placing equipment still makes up the majority of services performed.
BIR’s founder has been involved in the concrete placing industry since its earliest entry into the American market. Originally employed by a global concrete placing manufacturer headquartered in the Midwest, he began his career in assembly and fabrication and later advanced into a nationwide Repair/Field Service Representative position. These opportunities allowed him to gain specialized knowledge and a deep understanding of both the equipment and the industry--expertise few others possess.
Over the years, BIR has worked worked on a wide range of recalls, from minor to extensive, for six major concrete placing equipment manufacturers. This experience has provided valuable insight into the strengths and weaknesses of various manufacturers’ units. In 1999, the founder earned his Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification, followed by his Certified Welding Educator (CWE) certification in 2003.
In recent years, BIR has focused exclusively on inspections, providing detailed evaluations of concrete placing equipment. Drawing on more than 35 years of welding experience and over two decades in the concrete placing equipment industry, inspections are performed with attention to weld quality, structural condition, and areas commonly affected by fatigue or wear. Inspection findings consist of documented observations that customers may use alongside operation data, manufacturer guidelines, or maintenance history when assessing equipment condition, maintenance priorities, or long-term fleet planning.
